Day 4, Journal Entry 4

I woke up at 5 am this morning and I was out of the house at 6. I’ve here at Hayes Valley Park for an hour now (it’s 8 I got here at 7) currently all I’ve been doing is set up. the park is beautiful and this event is 3 times the size of the last one. The last one was in a little parking lot; this one covers 4 blocks and a park. In other words set up isnt a little thing. I have been sweeping with a push broom since the moment I got here until now (this is my first break) I only stopped because I realized that I had gotten a blister and had it pop all in a hour period just from pushing that broom. It doesn't hurt much but Danielle insisted that I take a break. I am going to make a quick run over to one of the coffeeshops on these 4 blocks and get something to keep me going. After i'm going to get back to work. Danielle said something about chalk and space numbers.

Day 4, Journal Entry 5

Its noon now and the event just started officially. Currently things are pretty calm and not much has happened. I’ve helped a lot of the booths with setting up and unloading their stuff (yay manual labor!). The little coffee shop I went to is really cute and they had these bagel sandwiches which were really tasty. Right now everyone else is either on a break getting food or running around doing something involving the booths. Right now I’m manning the information booth. Apparently Danielle had this thing where if people RSVPed they could get a free tote bag so I’ve been packing those and handing them out to people who come up and said they RSVPed or who sign up for the newsletter (yay more data entry (that was sarcasm)). I like the vibe of this place, a lot of things are on the honor system, like there is no list of people who RSVP its just if you know about it them we figure your telling the truth and you get one. Its very chill and trusting. Danielle said there will be street performers in a little bit, I wonder what they will be like. It’s starting to get busy again. I’ll write another entry next chance I get.
